Recommendation Proposed Follow-up Responsibility for Leading Follow-up Timeline for Addressing Recommendation

1. The department needs to work with senior leadership at the RMC to develop a long-term HR plan to address the department’s anticipated needs and to smooth the hiring process.

3 year dept. BP being developed; cutbacks have caused the HR plan to immediate in year requirements; Once a stable future funding is available longer term planning can be undertaken. Dept Head Unspecified timeline
2. The process of engaging sessionals needs to be streamlined in order to reduce the administrative burden on the Department. Faculty claims clerk will be trained to assist with sessional and TA hiring administration. Dean of Science Unspecified timeline
3. The department will need to hire between two and three full-time faculty in computer science to maintain their program. All UT positions within CS are filled Dept Head Complete
4. The department should explore new approaches to recruiting students DDevelop marketing/outreach/ recruitment plan. This is continuous process. Faculty have been active in implementing this recommendation. Ex: Pie Day, Logo contest. Dept Head Continues process
5. The department should hire 2-3 new full-time Computer Science faculty for sustainability Will be looking to modify the SPQRs to increace possibility of recruitment of CS milfacs. Dean/Dept Head Current shortages in CF have resulted in few applications and fewer personnel being accepted on the ATL
6. Arrange a public presentation of final student assignments, for instance in image processing, artificial intelligence, and simulation, to showcase what can be achieve in the major This was done within the Dept. Will expand to include 1st – 3rd years in following year. Math and Computing projects were presented together by the students Dept Head Done/recurring. This was done in Apr 2024. Scheduling issues limited 1st-3rd year participation.
7. Develop and promote different ‘specialization paths’. The Department has initiated a syllabus submission for a minor in data analytics. (Sept 23) Dept Head Complete
